Join Valeria Romeo in the Studio at West 16th for a festive lettering workshop and create your own hand lettered Christmas cards, or a hand lettered artwork to keep or give as a special gift. Learn a new skill, and create something unique to give your loved ones this festive season.
In this two hour workshop you will be introduced to the fundamentals of hand lettering, and learn how to draw beautiful letters with pencils, markers or brush pens. You will practise drawing your chosen lettering style, and learn different ways to add personality to your letters with flourishes and embellishments.
We will then explore layout ideas, and I will guide you step by step through creating your own festive hand lettered designs, from concept to finished artwork. You will have the option to create two A6 Christmas cards, or an A4 artwork.
No previous experience required. All materials will be provided.

About the host
Valeria is a lettering artist and graphic designer who creates bespoke hand lettered murals, chalkboards and signs for businesses and individuals.
She worked for 8 years as an in-house graphic designer for international fashion and beauty brand Mary Quant, where she played an active part in the company’s transition from physical stores to digital, and had the chance to work on a wide variety of projects from conception to finish, as the only designer in the team.
She now helps small businesses in the UK stand out and connect with their audience through recognisable brand visuals and hand drawn typography. Most of her clients are coffee and food businesses, artists and makers who are passionate about their craft and want their unique brand personality to shine.
She loves sharing her creative skills: she teaches hand lettering workshops in various locations in London, and works with CIC’s to deliver lettering, typography and graphic design workshops for young people.
She is a maker too and runs a product business called The Alternative Type, where she creates and sells hand lettered goods inspired by her love of alternative music and goth aesthetic.
